Special Care Instructions
Silver-Glazed Pottery
- Hand wash only: Hand wash with mild dish soap and lukewarm water, then dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent tarnishing and water spots. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, and acidic solutions.
- No dishwasher/microwave: Dishwashers and microwaves can damage the silver glaze or cause sparking or arcing in the microwave.
- Check the Lid, Spout, and Air Vents: Ensure the screw-style lid remains secure. If your teapot has air vents or other small openings, make sure they are free of tea leaves or debris to maintain proper airflow and function.
- Polish occasionally: Polish a few times a year to maintain its glowing patina.
About the Maker
Yu Yuanfeng
Chinese Ceramic Artist
Born in 1981 in Hangzhou, Yu Yuanfeng’s childhood was steeped in the natural beauty of rural China. His early years were filled with caring for animals, playing in the rain-soaked mud, and forming a deep bond with the earth—a connection that profoundly influences his artistic approach. After earning his master’s in ceramics from the China Academy of Art, Yu spent over a decade teaching, fostering new talent while refining his personal style.
In his late 30s, he sought a deeper reconnection with nature, relocating to the countryside to fully immerse himself in his craft. His ceramics transcend functionality, bringing whimsical, anthropomorphic forms to everyday objects. Handles become playful ears or hands, spouts transform into noses, and lids turn into character-like hats that remain secure while pouring. These imaginative creations are designed for interaction, encouraging users to discover their playful essence through touch. Yu’s work celebrates a sense of childlike wonder, blending practicality with a tactile exploration that delights and surprises.
